Music with a Mission
The Venice Symphony is passionate about inspiring a lifelong appreciation of music. Our dedicated musicians and other volunteers believe that music enriches the human experience. We are pleased to provide a variety of music education programs for youth and adults throughout our community.
Studies have shown that music education…
- Leads to success in school as it develops a deeper sense of culture as well as skills in language, reading and mathematics
- Enhances health by reducing stress, engaging the brain, and providing enjoyment
- Improves success in society by teaching teamwork and the art of playing music as part of a group
Symphony in Schools Program
Musicians from each section of The Venice Symphony…strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion….develop a curriculum and provide teachers with lesson plans about symphonic music. Throughout the school year, the musicians visit the schools to give music demonstrations and interact with students with discussions of how music makes you feel, concert etiquette, and the physics of sounds. The program culminates with a year-end concert. More than 1700 third grade students in 15 South Sarasota County Schools participate in this program each year. It is funded by grants, gifts, and fundraisers of The Venice Symphony and is provided at no cost to the schools or students.
The Venice Symphony Summer Music Camp
For more than 25 years, The Venice Symphony has proudly provided an annual music camp experience to South Sarasota County students. Campers choose keyboard, string, jazz or vocal instruction and enjoy learning musical concepts and history. The two-week program takes place at Island Village Montessori School in Venice June 19-30. On the last day of the program, campers provide a public concert for their families and friends at the Venice Performing Arts Center. Music camp focuses on beginning and intermediate levels and meets or exceeds the state mandated benchmarks. More than 100 students participate each summer. Need-based scholarships are made possible through grants and gifts. For more information and registration forms please see the following:

Pre-Concert Talks Series
Pre-Concert talks are free and open to everyone. Meet Maestro Imre Palló and our guest artist(s) at 6:15 pm before evening concerts and at 2:15 pm before afternoon concerts for an entertaining and informative 30-minute talk about the composers and the music to be performed. You will have the opportunity to ask questions.
These informal sessions will be held at the VPAC Concert Hall on the main level. You do not need a ticket. We will be asking everyone to exit the hall between the talk and the concert. Ticket holders will be seated 30 minutes before concerts.
